Silver Zebra

This is the konadicure I just wore when I went away for a romantic anniversary weekend with my husband. I figured it would look "wild" but still match with everything, including my new black sandals that have silver chains on them!

I used Finger Paints "Easel Come, Easel Go" as the base.  It's a really bright shiny silver, and I really love it.

I used the zebra pattern from m57 that we have all used and seen many times before, but, let's face it, animal prints just never get tired, do they?

Hope you are having a wonderful week. Any fellow Canadians out there? If so...are you looking forward to Canada Day and a long weekend?

Viva La Nails - Rhinestone Sticker Pedi

Well, I usually don't post pics of my feet - they just looks weird, to me.  I got a free trial pack of nail goodies from Viva La Nails and I just decorated my toenails, so I thought I'd show you how it turned out.

These rhinestone stickers are really cute, fit perfectly on my big toenails, and are super fast and easy to use.  Let's face it - sometimes it can be pretty hard to Konad on your own toenails.  You gotta be pretty flexible to do that! :-)

I used Finger Paints, "Easel Come, Easel Go"as the base colour.  I love this light silver metallic colour, and it looks great with all colours of sandals and clothes!

So, if you like glitter, rhinestones, stickers or water decals, check out Viva La Nails. They shipped quickly and their stuff looks great. I'll post more images when I use other products they sent.

Have a great day, and thanks for looking!

EOTD - Brights!

This look may not be everyone's cup of tea, but sometimes I love doing a really bright eye look.

The four main shadows I used to create this look are 4 colours by MAC.

Bitter = bright lime green (on the lid)
Riot = matte darker green (in the crease and outer corner)
Carbon = black (a bit on outer edge)
Tilt = frost bright blue (over Lapis eyeliner by Annabelle)

Oh yeah, I used a black kohl liner on the waterline and a thin line of MAC's creme liner in black on the top lash line.

To get a sharp edge on the outer corner, some people use tape, but I just hold a piece of paper towel against my eye and shadow over the straight edge of it.  It doesn't irritate my skin like ripping off tape would, and it's slightly softened, which I like.

So, do you like this look or is it too much for you? Would you ever wear this, yourself?

Thanks for looking, and I hope you are all enjoying Father's Day!

Multi-Coloured Konadicure

I got inspired to do this konadicure after seeing this post on xsparkage's blog. I used different polishes than she did (cremes instead of holos) and a different Konad IP, but you can click on the above link to see what gave me the idea.

Here's my version of a multi-coloured background, with a design stamped on top:

For the base colours, I freehanded diagonal stripes in Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in "Grass Slipper" and "I Pink I Can", as well as Orly "Snowcone".  I thought these colours worked well together to create a bright, summery background for the black pattern.

You can see that I placed the colours in different orders on each nail instead of doing each nail with the three colours in the same order.

The design I stamped is from Konad IP m60. I love these concentric circles, and I realized that I'd only ever used this pattern once before, so I figured, why not? The pattern isn't quite big enough to cover my thumb, so that looks a bit messed up, but otherwise, I really like how it turned out.

This is a new polish I just bought form the Complete Salon Manicure line.  "I Pink I Can" is a cute name and it's a light pink, but not as light as is looks in the picture. It leans a bit to the warmer side of pink.  The thick brushes in these bottles weren't that great for trying to paint diagonal lines, so I did make quite a mess, but most of it washed off my cuticle area after a few hand washes the day after I created this konadicure.

So, I hope you enjoyed this post, and maybe some of you will be inspired to try a similar konadicure yourselves.  It was a little difficult, but I think the results were worth it.  What do you think?

EOTD - Can you say PINK?

So, I've been really busy and haven't had time to do my nails, but I still had to put on makeup, of course!

I used NYX White, NYX Hot Pink and MAC Pro Pigment - Red Electric. The liner I use is MAC's cream liner (got it at the Pro Store) and Maybelline - The Falsies in Blackest Black for mascara.  Oh yeah, I added a bit of shimmer in the inner corner and on the brow bone with a MAC white frosty pigment, but the name of it wore off the container ages ago!

The Red Electric pigment says "not safe for use in the eye area" but I don't seem to have any trouble with it over a base like MAC paint pot or Smashbox Lid Primer.

Extreme closeup!

Thanks for looking, and have a great day!

EOTD - Makeup Look, For A Change (pic heavy)

I don't know how you guys feel about seeing a makeup look on a nail polish blog, but I really like how my eyes turned out today, so I figured, why not?!
The reason I tried such an intense look today was because I wanted to get a new lid primer...let me explain better. I usually use MAC Paint Pot in Painterly, but it's been getting dried out, and also, I don't love having to stick my finger in a pot because product always gets stuck under my nails.

I was at Shopper's Drug Mart and the lady in the makeup section recommended Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer.  I bought it, and wanted to test it out. It's a lot thinner/sheerer than the paint pot I'm used to, so I was somewhat doubtful that it would cover my naturally discoloured lids.

I'm actually impressed so far.  It did provide a nice neutral base, though I don't think I'd wear it alone, as it recommends you could. It did grip the eyeshadow nicely, and didn't seem drying, as some reviews claim it is.  I did use MAC Fast Response Eye Cream first, and that is a product I totally love!

I didn't see much creasing, and the makeup is lasting all day, so I'm impressed. Now, to tell you what else I used to create this look...

To fill brows: MAC Coquette e/s and a bit of Carbon e/s
Highlight: NYX 02 White - it's great quality, matte, and way cheaper than MAC!
waterline: Annabelle eyeliner Black
Liner - Annabelle Lapis
Shadow - Barry M Dazzledust 20 Baby Blue all over, then MAC Contrast (darkest navy blue in crease and outer corner), Barry M Fine Glitter Dust Denim (fgd20) on the lid and over eyeliner (top and bottom lash line), and MAC pigment A66 Clear Sky Blue and NYX White to lighten tear duct and to blend out where Contact meets White.
Mascara - Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies Blackest Black (just bought it and love it!)

So that's it. Please let me know what you think...

Hot Pink & Black Lace

Here's a konadicure I did to wear to a party.  I thought this would look great with a LBD, and I wore hot pink lipstick to match!

I used a lace pattern from m57 and to create the accent nail, I reversed the direction of the pattern and then flipped it over and doubled it to make a double-thick lace design.

For the base I used a Sally Hansen polish from one of their cheap lines that I just picked up in "Cerise".  I stamped it using Konad Special black, and used my typical Orly Bonder b.c. and Seche Vite t.c.

I love this kind of hot pink especially in the summer.  I had my hair dyed red for a few weeks, but it looked terrible with hot pink polish or lipstick, so I just dyed it black so that I could wear this colour makeup and polish again!

Barry M - Mint Green

This is nothing special, but for some reason, the colour just looked so fresh and beautiful plain, that I didn't stamp over it. That, and I had a very busy week!

I love this polish. I'm lucky my sister lives in England and brings me back a few bottles of Barry M when she comes home to visit.

The colour is more accurate in the bottom picture, which I took outside on my front porch.

Hope this post wasn't too boring....but I'll post a konadicure very soon!

Hope it is sunny wherever you are. Have a fantastic weekend, everybody!
